This Month's Birthdays - The following Seniors celebrate their birthday:
8/21 Gearl Davidson

Senior Potluck - All Seniors are invited to attend a potluck Lunch here at the church on Thursday, August 21st at 12:00 Noon. Come and bring your specialty dish. Meat and drink will be provided. We will learn all about outhouses - No kidding! Don't miss this absolutely hilarious afternoon with our special guest. She has traveled many places and brings joy and laughter to all she meets. Please sign up at the Information Center so we will know how much meat to order and how many places to set.

Royal Ranger Flea Market - Our next Royal Ranger Flea Market is scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd. Spots are only $5. If you are not a vendor, be a visitor and take home a treasure.

Junior Bible Quiz - JBQ begins 8/3 for those who have never quizzed before. All quizzers who are returning to JBQ, will begin meeting on Sunday, August 31st. All third, fourth, fith, and sixth graders are invited to join in this competition.

Super Sundae Summer Challenge - August 10th @ 6:30 PM. Those kids who finished their Super Summer Challenge Booklet should meet in the Junior Church room. Bring your booklet and come hungry! There will be a regularly planned Junior Church Service for all kids @ 7 PM.

Back to School Family Celebration - August 24th @ 9 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Pray for your schools and teachers as another year is about to begin! Enjoy a light breakfast in the Fellowship Hall before the morning worship service. A special time for families with school age children.

Missionette Promotion Tea - August 27th @ 7 PM in the Fellowship Hall. The girls (and Rainbows) will be meeting for the annual Promotion Ceremony. Don't miss out as your child meets their new teacher and enjoys the festivities.

King's Kitchen (Soup Kitchen)- The community meal will be served on August 28th, 4:30-6 PM. Please sign up to help. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated. More help is needed each month as the amount of people served is growing! You may help in any of these areas: provide a dessert, cook, set-up, serve or cleanup. Please sign up at the Information Center to be a part of this ministry! August KK will also be having a clothing drive. Please place outgrown clothing (all sizes) back by the kitchen, under the coat rack on August 24th. Clothing ahould be in good condition.

Entertainment Books - Kristi Hays needs someone who is willing to help sell Entertainment Books. If you can help, please let Kristi know.

Parking Assistant - If you would be willing to volunteer as a parking assistant, please sign the volunteer sheet at the Information Center.

Royal Rangers Need Your Help - If you are able to help the Royal Rangers send several boys to the Royal Ranger Leadership Training Academy, please place your donation in a tithing envelope and mark it Royal Ranger Scholarship.

Main Restrooms - Our main restrooms in the front lobby are finished! Great job and 'thank you' to everyone involved! They look GREAT!!!

Attention Seniors - Pastor Rick would like to start an email contact list for seniors. If you are interested in being on this list for updates and information for seniors, please email Pastor Rick at assoc_pastor@akron-springfield-ag.org. Pastor Rick will include you when he receives your email.

Library - If you haven't visited the church library recently, stop in and check out the great selection of books, CD's and DVD's. Sign up and be a regular reader. If you have some overdue items at home, please bring them back so everyone has an opportunity to enjoy our super selection.

Support the Troops - We will collect supplies to send to the troops. Some of the following are most appreciated: Ground coffee, Q-tips, power bars, baby wipes, chewing gum, hard candy, Trail Mix, Slim Jims, sunflower seeds, nuts, individual snack packs, peanut butter crackers, and flavor packets for bottled water. Boxes for your donation will be in the downstairs lobby.
Servicemen - If you have a loved one on our prayer list who is currently in the armed forces, please bring in a 5x7 picture of them and his or her address. Drop this information off at the church office.

Food Pantry - The Food Pantry is in need of the following items: Spaghetti sauce, canned meat, peanut butter and jelly, sugar, flour, soup (all varieties), Jell-O, canned fruit, mustard, catsup, mayonnaise, toilet tissue, shampoo (sample sizes are OK), laundry detergent, toothpaste, hand soap, toilet paper, snack foods for families with children and cash donations (place in tithing envelope and mark "Food Pantry").

Funeral Dinners - We need several women to volunteer to make a dish for funeral dinners. We are creating a new list, so even if you were on the previous list, please sign up at the Information Center

Library -The church library is in need of some helpers. We need help stocking shelves, checking books in and out and we also need helpers who could come when the library is closed to help with other aspects of the library. We can use you for an hour, a month or an hour a week or whatever/whenever you are available. Please call or see Debbie Jansen to let her know when you are available to help out. More volunteers would make the load lighter for all.

Looking for an area of ministry? - Would you like to help in an area of ministry but not sure where? Nursery, cooking, music teaching and much more....Where do I start??? Stop by the Information Center and pick up a brochure about your ministry of interest. Get involved today and be a blessing of service to those around you.

Lost and Found - Are you missing serving or baking dishes? There are several dishes in the kitchen that need to be claimed. These dishes have been left from funeral dinners and other events. Please stop by and claim your dish.

Men's Ministry Service Commitment: The Men's Task Force is launching a ministry called SCC (Men in Service to the Church and Community). If you are able to give of your time, on an as needed basis, to help those in need with carpentry, electrical needs, plumbing, auto mechanics, lawn care, snow shoveling, moving furniture, home maintenance, etc.; please sign up at the Information Center and indicate which areas you can help. If you have questions or suggestions, contact Dave Dennis. If you are in need of this kind of help or assistance please contact the church office.

Outreach - We are trying to help several families with food supplies. Please bring in nonperishable food items and toiletries to give to those in need.

Small Group Ministries - Small groups are being developed for a wide variety of ages or common interests: Men, Women, Couples, Singles, Young Married, Families, and more! Groups meet in various locations weekly, biweekly, and monthly. Find out which group is right for you! If you are interested in a small group contact Ron Beltz, Don Hall or Pastor Rick.

 

Camp - The Ohio District has made it possible to register for camp online. The website is www.ohioag.org for information and registration.
