What
you need to know to get here and enjoy your stay:
Visiting
ANY church for the first time can be intimidating. Even though we
consider ourselves a very friendly and welcoming church we know
you may still feel a little uneasy when you visit for the first
time. With this page we hope to answer some of the questions you
may have and make your first visit with us more relaxing and enjoyable.
We hope to see you soon!
Getting
Here & What You'll Find:
-
The
church is located about 1/4 mile south of Rt.
224 at 1551 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio. You can
use the arrows and links on the map below for more information.
-
There
is plenty of parking space available.
You can park in any space available but please only
use the designated "Handicapped" spaces
at the rear of the church if that applies to you. These
spaces are reserved for those who really need them.
There are also designated "Visitors"
parking spaces close to the front entrance. These, of
course, are meant for those visiting ASAG. As a courtesy
to our visitors, we ask that regular ASAG attendees
not use the visitors spaces.
-
The
building is wheelchair accessible when
you park and enter at the rear of the church. The main
and side entrances will require the use of stairs to
get to the sanctuary and classrooms on the lower level.
There are plenty of restrooms located
throughout the church. Some of these are also equipped
with baby changing tables. There is also a private area
near our Nursery for nursing mothers use.
-
To
help you find your way around the church
there are general charts of the layout of our church
on a table at each entrance. These will help you locate
the various classrooms, sanctuary, etc. At these tables
you will also find our weekly bulletins if there is
not a "greeter" at the door at the time you
come in. "Greeters" are generally at each
entrance before each Sunday morning service to welcome
you, make sure you receive a bulletin and help direct
you in any way needed. There are also various signs
posted throughout the church to help you find what you
need. The main Information Center is
located at the bottom of the main stairs and there is
usually someone there to give information as needed
as well as brochures, sign up sheets for activities
and other resources.
-
Everyone
is welcome! We welcome people of all age groups,
races and nationalities. There is a place for anyone
and everyone here at ASAG!
Attending
a Service:
-
Our
Sunday School Classes begin at 9:00 AM
with Morning Worship beginning right after at
10:00 AM. We have Sunday School classes for
all ages (some have refreshments available). The morning
worship service is begun with prayer and worship music,
leading into the teaching by our Pastor or guest speakers.
We try very hard to follow the Lord's leading so there
is no 'set time' or 'program' that we follow but there
is still structure. Our worship contains a good mix
of contemporary and traditional music and you will also
hear from our Adult Choir or occasionally the Youth
or Kid's Choir. Ushers are available at every service
to help you find a seat or answer questions you may
have. The worship leaders and Pastors will give any
directions needed during the service.
Sunday evenings begin with our Adult Choir practice
at 5:15 PM. Evening Service and Children's Church begin
at 6:30 PM.
-
There
is plenty of seating available in the
sanctuary. Only on special occasions are there any seats
reserved so you may sit wherever you like unless seats
are roped off when necessary.
-
As
a guest you will never be singled out or embarrassed.
We won't ask you to stand or wear a special name-tag.
We will offer you the opportunity to receive our "visitor's
packet" with information about our church and you
may fill out the visitor's information portion of that
packet and put it in the offering plate if you choose
to. We just want the opportunity to get to know you
better and help you to get to know us too!
-
We
have child care during all services
from infants and toddlers to Beginners and Jr. Church.
We have a great staff of teachers to look after and
instruct your children on their own level making it
more interesting for them. You are also welcome to have
your children remain with you in the sanctuary if you
desire. Feel free to ask an usher if you need help or
directions. There is a digital sign at the North side
of the sanctuary that the nursery workers can use if
they need a parent/guardian to return to the nursery,
as well as the ability to visually request a parent
to return to the nursery via the overhead screen at
the front of the sanctuary when it is in the lowered
position. These both work on a number system. You will
be given a numbered tag when you sign your child in
and if you are needed, it will be your number put on
the digital sign or overhead screen. You're not left
wondering if your child is OK, we do our best to keep
you informed if you are needed.
-
Our
Youth group have their own Sunday School
classes and also have their main meetings on Wednesday
evenings at 7 PM.
-
Wednesday
evenings are our 'Family Nights'. Classes
for men, women, college and career, youth, Royal Rangers
(Boys) and Missionettes (Girls), general classes, etc.
take place on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to about
8:15 PM.
